The Series B financing will be used to continue technology developments, accelerate commercialization efforts and finance working capital.

ThromboGenics announces that its second Phase III trial evaluating microplasmin for the non-surgical treatment of vitreomacular adhesion (VMA) has met its primary endpoint. Importantly, the trial also confirmed the positive results seen in the first Phase III trial with microplasmin. The results of the second Phase III trial were presented for the first time at the American Society of Retina Specialists Annual Meeting.

Cardio3 BioSciences today announces that the key scientific work underlying its lead pharmaceutical product C-Cure® has been published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology (JACC). The findings were described as “landmark work” in the accompanying editorial in today’s publication. ThromboGenics announces today that positive microplasmin Phase II trial results, evaluating the product for the nonsurgical treatment of vitreomacular adhesion, have been published in the July/August issue of the journal Retina. The results show that microplasmin was generally well tolerated, and support its potential for nonsurgical resolution of vitreomacular adhesion.

ThromboGenics and co-development partner BioInvent International announce that the positive results from a Phase II trial of TB-402 (Anti-Factor VIII antibody) were presented at the 21st International Congress on Thrombosis (ICT) in Milan, Italy yesterday. TB-402 is a novel, long acting anticoagulant that is being developed as a single injection for the prevention of venous thromboembolism following orthopaedic surgery. The Phase II results showed the superior antithrombotic activity of TB-402, when compared to enoxaparin (Lovenox®: sanofi-aventis).

The results were presented at the AACR-NCI-EORTC International Conference on Molecular Targets and Cancer Therapeutics in Boston, U.S. TB-403 was well tolerated with no reported dose limiting toxicity. These positive data support progression of TB-403 and further development.
